Hi guys, Alexandra and I were having an interesting conversation this morning about CM salaries. We have both been in the situation recently that we had to negotiate for our salaries and can’t find any good market information out there. (The CR does some studies but I found their publication uninspiring). So we are asking YOU (Yes you) if you have 2 spare minutes to fill out this form for us and share your skills and salary experiences. (totally anonymous).

Buffer released their employee’s salaries recently online, pretty bold move! Have a look, it might help to gather some market information: https://buffer.com/transparency

We have about a 100 responses. We are doing another push to get more answers before running evaluation. As soon as that’s done (probably another week) we will start the analytics! I will keep you posted.

@Nikoletta_Harrold I will fill this out tomorrow! I have a feeling that mine will be one of the lower salaries only because Orlando is not the best at salaries and the whole city is still learning what a Community Manager is

Always found Buffer’s approach to employees and operations pretty interesting. Not everything has worked out (getting rid of all hierarchy, for one) but the way they document the experience and what they learn from things is fascinating.

Wow, the range across geographical areas is marked! Is this typical of salaries in the US generally?

Yes. The west coast and the north east coast cost of living is double or triple of some of the central areas of the US! Hence salaries are inflated at similar (but not equal) levels.
