My spouse is a member of a large educational association. They are moving to some new platform to manage their forums/“Listserv’s”. Recently a message was sent out that said something like

Definitely not! It seems like the new vendor is trying to save themselves some time. Nearly all community platforms provide batch content migration. It is best practice to clean house before you migrate the content, but to just dump it all, that I have never heard off, unless the company (customer) asked for it specifically, because they knew their content was bad…
Agree with @Nikoletta_Harrold. Any migration project we’ve worked on has always ensured migration of all data. Certainly it helps if it can be cleaned up a bit but it should be part of the process.
I think I’d be asking the new vendor some pretty pointed questions, quickly.
