Acquisition vs Retention : Managing time in a team of 1

For those people that are lone community wolves (as I am), how do you split your time between acquisition and retention based activities? Acquisition numbers are an important business goal for us in our lead gen based model, but retention within the community is my primary goal because it deepens the level of engagement and value of content.

When I actively focus on acquisition (personal new member welcomes for instance), I see those numbers rise. When I drop it in favour of retention based work (tagging in and inviting members into discussions for instance) I see the balance swing.

I’d be interested to hear how you manage your time in this regard. Any tips or strategies?
